What is Mod Of The Month?
Approximately how long did the entire project take?
The project took about 4 months from my first ideas about the case to the day I finished it.
What material is your case made of?
The case is made of 6mm Perspex, aluminum 45degree angles cut to size.
The wireless on/off switch is quite a unique idea. If you don't mind would you please give a brief description of how you went about creating this?
The wireless on/off via cell phone was a simple idea I had a few months ago after making the same thing from a wireless doorbell, I just replaced the speaker inside the phone with a 5v relay, so when I phone the cell it turns the relay on rather than make a noise, and the relay is wired to the power button.
What tools did you use to cut the material you used to your specific needs?
I used many tools to cut and shape the perspex, from wood saws, bansaws and various files for finishing off the edges.
What does the controller on the front of your case do exactly?
The controller on the front controls 4 fans inside the case, a cpu fan, gpu fan, case fan, and a hard drive fan. The controller tells me the speeds of the fans and the temperature from each with temp probes.
What version Xbox did you use in your mod?
My original Xbox was a v.1.0
If you don't mind us asking approximately how much did the entire project cost you?
The total cost for the build was around £300 (about $360)
How many fans are in the box?
4 Fans - 80mm case fan, 80mm earogate blower fan, and 2 smaller fans for hdd and gpu.
How and what did you light your case with?
The case is lit with the blue case fan, the controller and 2 blue led's, I didn't want to go over the top with lights, I have just enough.
What do you think the hardest part of your project was?
I didn't really have any difficult parts to the project as i took my time to make sure everything was right and I was well prepared for everything, about the most difficult thing was getting the hole in the front panel perfect to fit the controller, this took a couple of hours.
If you had enough time and money what else would you like to do to your case?
I can't think of anything else to do to the MOdbOX, but if i do i will let you know. I am planning on building a new perspex case, smaller and with no DVD drive.
Are you happy with the way everything turned out with your project?
I am more than happy with my MOdbOX, I do get lots of people saying its far to big, but i think its perfect, lots of room to move around in the case, like if i need to change anything inside all I need to do is lift the lid up (which is hinged) and there you go, everything accessible.
Would you like to share anything else about your project?
That's about all there is to know about my case, pictures can express more than words.
